PULSCO’s Silencers reduce low frequency noise by
shifting it to higher frequency. High frequency noise is then easily absorbed by the acoustic packing in the tube module, providing compliance with government
ordinances, protection of employees from excessive plant noise and customer requirements.
The active components of a PULSCO Line Silencer are the inlet
diffuser, plenum section, and acoustic tube module. The Inlet
Diffuser provides energy dissipation and modification of the
noise spectrum from low to high frequency waves for easier attenuation.
It also provides the back pressure required for optimum valve
performance and size. This reduced pressure drop across the valve
reduces the noise generated by the valve and the velocity downstream
of the valve. The Plenum Section minimizes shell noise radiation
and noise leakage. It slows the flow velocity prior to entry
into the Acoustic Tube Module. The Acoustic Tube Module, comprised
of multiple flow tubes surrounded by acoustic packing, absorbs
and attenuates the high frequency acoustic energy as modified
by the inlet diffuser. Because PULSCO’s Line Silencer combines
the acoustic benets of reactive and absorptive silencing, maximum
attenuation can be achieved in a short silencer length. |
